Nothing may look like the catalog picture. That is sort of an inside joke among gardeners. Stuff happens and your crop may not be what you expected, you always have NEXT YEAR! That means, don’t give up because you don’t have some TV looking garden. Keep trying. Don’t grow tomatoes, peppers squash and cucumbers in the same place year after year. You have to move to a new area, this is called rotating crops. There are soil diseases that remain for about 2 or 3 years. DON’T GROW A ONE ACRE GARDEN! People go nutso and plant a ton of things in a giant garden and then midseason, they can no longer find time for it and it becomes a weed bed. Don’t start seeds till you learn how to keep the plants alive. Buy starter plants at a local garden center/nursery and you can ask them questions about growing them. A valuable resource. Once you are comfortable growing plants, you can do the seed thing. This does not apply to beans, squash or cucumbers. It is best to plant those seeds directly in the ground. Get a ground thermometer and plant them when the ground temp is 70F for best results.
